So, due to a glorious mixture of Christmas, full time work, unforeseen business and a little sprinkle of procrastination I don't have anything to post this week.

However, 10 Minute Tales will be back in 2017 with plenty more stories.

Hotel Room

A Note: Another story written from the jar but took much longer than 10 minutes.

Please note, from Friday 23rd December 10 Minute Tales will be taking a short break but will be back in the New Year. Merry Christmas!!


The light creeps through thin curtains, spilling onto the duvet and the body hidden beneath it. Dana stares at the lump that it makes under the covers and wonders when the blood will start to seep through. The sheets are all pristine white. Nothing in the room moves except for dust motes dancing in the early morning light. She lets out a breath. And then another.

She will not panic.

Eyes

​There were hundreds of eyes watching her. It felt like thousands but the auditorium didn’t hold that many. They were like pinpricks of anxiety on her skin, little goosebumps of shivering fear. She hadn’t even made it to the podium in the middle of the stage and she was already shaking from the onslaught of watchful faces. She absolutely, one hundred percent, did not want to be there.

She walked in the dark like any other woman. Quiet, unassuming and hurrying as though followed. She kept her head down and her fists clenched in her pockets. She walked like she was in danger.

Touch

A note: So this may be a little autobiographical, haha. ​

She could feel the warmth of his hand through the thick material of her jeans; placed ever so gently but purposefully on her thigh. She was sure this was the point where she was supposed to melt a little, smile bashfully and maybe blush. Instead she felt cold and uncomfortable, tempted to cry and walk away and scratch away her skin all at once. She matched his movements, gently but purposefully picking up his hand and moving it back to his own leg. He laughed a bit, surprised but not yet put off. They kept talking, he was interesting and they had several things in common. As they chatted he slowly placed his hand back on her thigh, even higher up this time.
